Australian sandalwood (Santalum spicatum) is actually a separate species compared to traditional sandalwood (Santalum Album). The wood has a red appearance compared to the yellow Album. In respect of aroma there is definitely a similarity. To the undistinguished nose they would smell the same but really Australian Sandalwood does miss top note aroma and subtle nuance compared to Santalum Album. In replacement I find Australian sandalwood to carry a fair amount of bass depth. All in all, these are thrifty sticks that will create a very pleasant aroma and worthy of place in any collection.
